Line Producer Programme

The Line Producer Programme ran from December 2017 - May 2018 and supported screen professionals looking to enhance their skills and make the move into the role of Line Producer for Drama.

Working with industry experts and leading trainers, TRC provided first class training for eight delegates from the Nations and Regions looking to take the next step in their screen career.

The programme delivered training in three parts:

Glasgow training:
An intensive week of training delivered by industry experts, taking place in Glasgow from 4th-8th December 2017. Training covered areas ranging from scheduling and budgeting to time management and negotiation skills.

On the job learning:
A mentoring or shadowing opportunity on a drama production, allowing the trainee to use skills learnt on the residential in a practical context.

Reflection and Next Steps:
A two-day follow-up programme in May 2018 addressed additional needs of Negotiation Skills and Time Management, as identified through evaluation with participants.

The course delegates included Production Managers, Schedulers and Location Managers. During the programme half of the delegates secured new roles as Line Producers.

I feel like I learnt more in 5 days than I could have done in another 20 years on set. The opportunity to discuss detail of other people’s roles was fabulous and has given me a brilliant insight into the world of line producing.
