Nations and Regions production companies selected for SuperSizer development training programme
Twelve development executives are to take part in a six-month training programme for out-of-London production companies looking to win high value commissions and develop ideas of scale for the next big returning series.
Glasgow-based training provider TRC has announced the successful delegates for SuperSizer: a professional development programme funded by BBC Nations and Regions, Channel 4, Screen Scotland and Scottish Enterprise.
The programme, which first launched in 2017, equips development executives with the skills, knowledge and connections to pitch ambitious ideas that have the potential to transform indies in the Nations and Regions. SuperSizer 2019 follows on from two successful years of the programme, which has so far connected 26 development executives from throughout the Nations and Regions with leading commissioners at broadcasters including BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and ITV.
Last year’s programme comprised seven monthly training sessions, including a day at both Channel 4 and Channel 5’s London headquarters and a day with leading BBC commissioners in Glasgow. There have been 5 commissions so far as a result of SuperSizer, including a BBC One Daytime series, plus multiple ideas in development with commissioners met through the programme.
As well as gaining exclusive access to commissioners, the delegates will receive training in areas that will aid their careers as development executives including pitching and presentation skills, leading creative teams and personal impact & influence.
This year’s SuperSizer delegates are:
Gillian Brown – Tern TV
