Film Training

Leading Creatives

ScreenSkills Leading Creatives in association with TRC is a leadership programme for executives working in the film industry who want to make a valuable investment in their professional development.

This 'virtual classroom' programme is designed to inspire and motivate film professionals who want to develop their leadership skills and take their career to the next level. Training is open to Heads of Department, including Line Producers and Art Directors, who are working in the Nations and Regions and will take place in January and February 2020.

Working in film is demanding – busy schedules, long shoot days and lots of on-the-job learning.
We get it. Finding time to invest in your own professional development can be difficult, especially at a senior level. Leading Creatives is an online leadership development programme for senior film professionals with busy schedules who want to invest in themselves by developing their leadership skills.

Over six weeks you will train in our ‘virtual classroom’ for 2 hours each week with an industry-leading trainer, then be assigned tasks and exercises to complete on the job. It’s a small weekly time commitment that’s a valuable investment in your leadership skills and will lead to real results. By the end of the programme you will be clear about your own leadership style and be armed with new skills, perspectives and tools to help you be the best leader you can be.

Leading Creatives is supported by ScreenSkills using National Lottery funds awarded by the BFI as part of the Future Film Skills programme.

  • Six real-time facilitator led ‘virtual classroom’ sessions amounting to one 2-hour session per week over a 6-week programme
  • Virtual breakout that will allow for interactive learning methods and connections with fellow delegates
  • Practical exercises assigned between modules to practice skills and techniques learned

The programme is open to Heads of Department (including Line Producers, Art Directors and Digital Marketers, and other team leaders) working in Film in the Nations and Regions. If you are unsure if you are eligible for the programme, please contact TRC directly.

This programme has now been completed.

By the end of the programme, participants will…

• Understand the fundamentals driving performance
• Be clear about their own leadership style, and how to make the most of it
• Be able to manage tasks effectively by prioritising, delegating and setting goals for team members
• Be able to give and receive performance-based feedback to improve results
• Know how to get the best from the diverse personalities and styles in their team
• Regard conflict as a positive aspect of team working and be able to resolve conflict to get a better result
