Special Edition 2018 applications open

High end training programme for women in Digital aims to tackle boardroom gender gap

Applications are now open (18th June 2018) for TRCmedia’s Special Edition programme, aimed at ambitious women working within the digital and technology sectors in Scotland. The six month high-end training programme, now in its sixth year, was devised by TRCmedia in response to the under-representation of women at board level in the digital sector in Scotland. Funded by Channel 4, BBC, Scottish Enterprise and Creative Scotland, Special Edition gives talented and ambitious women the toolkit, network and skills to achieve their full potential and reach the very top.

Over half the participants on last year’s programme- which wrapped in February 2018- have been promoted in their roles, attributing their success to the knowledge and support gained from the professional development programme.

What’s on offer?

The programme spans six months, consisting of five in-house training sessions in TRC’s Glasgow premises and a business trip where the delegates will attend exclusive meetings with digital leaders. Last year’s field trip saw delegates visit London and Amsterdam, where participants had private meetings with leaders at Google, Booking.com, Microsoft, TomTom, UKIE and more. Glasgow training sessions will cover topics such as goal setting, powerful negotiation, leadership and work/life balance. There are eight places available on this year’s Special Edition.

Claire Scally and Margaret Scott, Joint Managing Directors of TRCmedia, say

“Special Edition is one of our most successful training initiatives and makes a real impact on the women who take part, and on their companies. The programme is a career defining initiative and tackles many of the issues women come up against during their career progression in the digital and tech sector.”

Lynsey Briston, User Satisfaction Manager at Skyscanner and delegate of the 2017/18 programme says of her experience:

“Through the course I was promoted in January when the programme was still ongoing. This is without a doubt due to the tools and skills learnt on Special Edition. Every single training session and person we met with was immensely valuable and there wasn’t a single topic or area we covered that I didn’t get benefit from.”

Searra Dodds, Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder of Trivia-as-a-Service company Jukebox Labs, said:

“I applied to Special Edition wanting to do something for myself, to give me more confidence and drive to achieve my goals. The programme has given me so much more than I could have ever anticipated. I’m so grateful for every moment of it and deeply proud to have taken part.”

Applications are now open and will close on Monday 2nd July 2018. Full details on the programme and how to apply can be found here.
