TRC's Highlights of 2019

And just like that, we’re in single figures for the countdown to Christmas! We can hardly believe another year has been and gone, and once again we’re feeling very lucky to have spent our year with so many brilliant people working in the broadcast and digital industries.

Here’s a quick round-up of some of this year’s highlights.

Supporting TV Talent

In 2019 we connected indies in the Nations and Regions with decision makers at the likes of Channel 4, BBC, UKTV, YouTube and ITV through our Creative Breakfasts and events. We also launched the third edition of SuperSizerour training programme for ambitious TV development executives in the Nations and Regions.

 

Championing New Talent 

This year we launched two shiny new programmes for talented folks looking to get on the career ladder in two very exciting industries. For the TV sector we launched rad: an incredible opportunity for ambitious new entrants to work with an independent TV production company for 10 months whilst receiving training from TRC on everything needed to kick-start their career as a TV researcher. The programme was shortlisted for a Herald Diversity Award and has introduced eight brilliant new talents to the industry.

For the digital sector, we launched Inspiring Digital Leaders - a collaboration between TRC, BIMA Scotland and 5 leading digital agencies: After Digital, Dog, Equator, Front Page and Screenmedia. 5 months, 5 agencies, 5 disciplines and 5 incredibly talented graduates.

Transformational Training

It was another great year for our existing training programmes, including Special Edition and SuperSizer. In addition to our new traineeships, in 2019 we also launched CrossCreative:Immersive - a spin-out of TRC's successful Cross Creative format.

CrossCreative:Immersive is a new training programme that will help Scottish businesses capitalise on the opportunities offered by the UK’s growing immersive economy. In January 2020 the group will be jetting off to San Francisco to meet some of the world's most exciting companies doing big things in the immersive landscape - keep your eyes peeled!

 

Launching 2020 with a bang

There's lots of opportunities to get involved with TRC in the new year.

Work in film? Check out Leading Creatives - an online leadership progamme for Heads of Department working in the Nations and Regions. Training kicks off in January. 

Interested in Immersive storytelling? Applications are now open for our Immersive Bootcamp in February in partnership with StoryFutures Academy. It's an exciting opportunity for creative professionals working in film, television, theatre or games who are keen to explore immersive storytelling.
