This year’s first session in the Commissioner Events series, the event will feature Kate Teckman, Head of Development Commissioner & Factual Commissioner, and David Smyth, Commissioner, Entertainment.

Kate Teckman
Head of Development Commissioner & Factual Commissioner
Kate Teckman joined ITV from Channel 4, in September 2016. Since joining, Kate has been responsible for developing and commissioning award winning Fact Ent including the Broadcast winning “Olivia Attwood’s Getting Filthy Rich”, and the Emmy, RTS and Broadcast Award winning “The Real Full Monty: Ladies’ Night“, and the Broadcast award winning “Harry’s Heroes”.
She has recently developed and commissioned brand new returning hit format “Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends”, and “Olivia Attwood: The Price Of Perfection” for ITVX and ITV2. Other 9pm Fact Ent commissions include “The Savoy” and “Gone To Pot” which saw a group of ageing national treasures embark on a US road trip to try to answer the question should we legalise cannabis in the UK.
Her recent documentary commissions include “Rolf Harris: Hiding In Plain Sight” for ITVX and ITV1, “A Murder In The Family” for ITVX and ITV1 and three series of “Social Media Murders” for ITV2 and ITVX.
During her seven years at Channel 4 as a Commissioning Editor in Features, her commissions included Realscreen winner and BAFTA-nominated “George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces”, “Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners”, “Three In A Bed” and “Four In A Bed”, International Emmy-winning “Embarrassing Bodies: Live From The Clinic”, BAFTA-winning “It Was Alright In The 70’s”, “Shed Of The Year“, “For The Love of Cars”, “The Autistic Gardener” and “Ugly House To Lovely House”.
Kate was also responsible for looking after other iconic Features brands, including the BAFTA winning “Grand Designs“, BAFTA and Broadcast and Emmy award-winning “Embarrassing Bodies”, “Location, Location, Location“, “How Clean Is Your House”, “How To Look Good Naked”, and “Restoration Man”.
Kate began her career at GMTV, before going on to spend 16 years in the Independent production sector, in roles including series producer on Eurotrash. producer on Banzai, and producer /director on popular documentaries series.
David Smyth
Commissioner, Entertainment
David Smyth is a Commissioner in the Entertainment team at ITV, a role he’s held for 5 years. He’s responsible for shows such as “Dancing On Ice”, “In For a Penny” and “The Royal Variety Performance”. He’s also commissioned a series of documentaries such as “John & Joe Bishop: Life After Deaf”, “Adam Lambert: Out, Loud and Proud” and “will i am: The Blackprint”.
Part of the role also involves receiving pitches for new formats and ideas in the Entertainment genre.
Prior to Commissioning, David produced shows such as “The Voice”, “Love Island”, “Strictly Come Dancing”, “Come Dine With Me” and “Children in Need”.
