Introducing the Digital Producer Programme
a practical new training opportunity designed to help independent production companies thrive in a digital-first content economy.
Building on the success of the last two editions of FutureProof, we identified a clear opportunity to support further growth in the digital first area.
As audiences continue to shift towards online platforms, independent production companies need the skills and capacity to build direct relationships with viewers, make better use of existing IP, and create new routes to income beyond traditional commissioning. This programme helps companies develop digitally confident talent who can manage day-to-day channel activity, spot growth opportunities, and turn creative assets into measurable audience engagement and commercial value.
The pilot programme will support digital natives to build the skills needed to manage YouTube channels, optimise content, understand performance, grow communities, and develop new opportunities from original formats and existing IP.
The programme brings together both TRC alumni, from initiatives such as rad Scotland and FormatLab, and new participants from independent production companies, creating a stronger pipeline of digital talent across the sector and providing new skills development opportunities.
Through focused, hands-on training, participants will learn how to create, repurpose and grow content for online audiences while helping indies unlock new value beyond traditional commissioning models.
The Digital Producer Programme is funded by Screen Scotland.
