We are very excited to announce the brilliant women joining us on Thursday 8th of March for our storytelling evening in celebration of International Women’s Day and TRC’s 20th birthday.
Failing Up is an evening for our contributors and guests to speak openly and honestly about a topic we so often shy away from: failure.
We’ve asked ten brave women to share a story with us, not to give a presentation or a philosophy or a life journey, but to focus in on one simple story, told from the heart. How did it feel at the time? What (if anything) did they learn from it?
Alex Dalton, Partner of Leading Ideas and a great friend of TRC, is producing the evening after hosting a similar event in London last year. She’s had a sneak peek at the stories that will be shared on Thursday:

Here are the brilliant and very brave women who’ve agreed to share their story with us:
Karen Dunbar is one of Scotland’s best-known comedy actors and has starred in Chewin’ the Fat and The Karen Dunbar Show.
Uzma Mir-Young is a television producer and Managing Director at Tumeric Media- a Glasgow based independent production company specialising in Factual, Learning, Children’s, Drama and Comedy.
Vicky Brock is a business founder, entrepreneur and self-proclaimed ‘data geek.’ She is host of ‘The Entrepreneur Agony Aunt’- a podcast for business owners that ‘tells it like it is…because there are no mistakes that someone else hasn’t made first.’
Caroline Newson is a communications strategist and creative project leader with over 15 years of broadcast PR experience in the UK and North America. She is currently project lead at TRCmedia, running flagship digital training programmes Cross Creative and Special Edition.
Rhona Baillie is the chief executive of The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice. Rhona is a highly experienced senior healthcare director with a strong history of redesigning healthcare models and a special interest and education background in cancer and palliative care.
Laura Boyd is a showbiz and entertainment producer and presenter at STV and STV2. She is a regular events host, charity campaigner and blogger – writing about her ‘life, love, laughs and leukemia.’
Danae Shell is Head of Marketing at Caresourcer, a ground breaking innovative care matching platform that connects those seeking care with those providing it. Danae was previously Head of Awareness at FreeAgent.
Tracey Chisholm is Director of The Really Delicious Food Company- a Glasgow based catering company with substantial film and TV credits including Waterloo Road, Outlander, T2, Still Game, Scot Squad, and Shetland.
Shirani Sabaratnam is a film, television and documentary executive currently working as Commissioning Editor at UKTV. She has worked across a range of network and international broadcasters, including BBC, Channel 4 and PBS America.
Rachel McCormack is a writer and broadcaster and one of the UK’s top Spanish Food and culture experts. She is a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4’s The Kitchen Cabinet and author of Chasing the Dram: Finding the Spirit of Whisky.
